List of Must Watch Movies

Movies, the bundles of creative visual media, could be visual treats for some, an escape from reality for a few, lighthearted entertainment for most and serious forms of artistic expression for those who live and breathe it. No matter which category you belong to, this article has something for you.

If you’re tired of the regular classifications of movies into the generic categories, we’re glad to inform you that so are we. Here we’ll be classifying movies based on how they make you feel. Under each category there will be a list of movies out of which one will be selected as the winner of that category just in case you can’t check out all of them but have time for just one. We realize you may not always agree with our selection which is why we leave this list open for suggestions. So here we go!

Those that touch you emotionally:-

A Beautiful Mind [2001] – Starring Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelley, A Beautiful Mind is a movie adaption of the autobiographical book by Sylvia Nasar about the Nobel Prize winning Mathematical genius Dr. John Nash. Although the movie is way off from being faithful to the specifics of Nash’s life as described in the book, it represents what Nash went through in his peak years and subsequent years of downfall in such a way that the audience goes through just about what Nash experienced during the tragedies of his life. Ron Howard’s direction is subtle and noticeably original but what steals the show is Crowe’s stellar performance in a role that would have been hard to empathize if not for him. Overall the movie is a must watch because it subtly takes the audience through the mind of one of the most brilliant mathematicians of the 20th century.

Memento [2000] – Directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Guy Pearce and Carrie-Anne Moss, Memento is based on a short story of the name Memento Mori written by Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonathan Nolan about a person who has short term memory loss. Memento could be said to be one of those movies that has such an intricate screenplay and direction that very few in the world could produce anything parallel to what the Nolans did. The plot surrounds around the life of Leonard Shelby who suffers from short term memory loss and therefore cannot have a day with events that could be sequentially connected by him. Staying faithful to what a person with such a disorder goes through, Chris Nolan presents the story in reverse! The direction is both tremendously unconventional and successful in getting across the perspective of a guy like Leonard Shelby. A must watch if you feel you have a thirst for innovatively narrated stories that are unconventional and original.

Even with the wildest of your imagination, whatever you’re thinking is exactly not what happens in this movie if you haven’t watched it yet.
